About Zachary Sanders
I am a high school humanities teacher living in Normal Heights and have lived in San Diego for 15 years. I have an amazing husband of 7 years and a 3 year old son. When not teaching one can find me doing yard work or out on an adventure with my family. I love yoga, running, and baking. A perfect night is doing a puzzle and listening to a podcast after settling my son in bed for the night. My family and I enjoy Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel (both the MCU and comics).

My journey with education is something that I like to share with parents and students because it doesn't fit the traditional pathway that was encouraged to me by my parents and teachers upon graduating high school. I started at a State school and quickly realized that I wasn't ready for college. I much later went to City College of San Diego where I discovered I had a motivation and passion for learning. Working full time I was unable to transfer to anywhere but an online program that I could be flexible with my work schedule. After graduating with a degree in Psychology I leaned into my then job as a retail manager. After a few years I came to the understanding that I needed more fulfilment in my career. I knew I enjoyed teaching, so I decided to go to Grad School to get my teaching credential and now have truly found happiness teaching 10th grade.

Fun Fact: I was an amateur beekeeper for 2 years.
